Although his musical career is extensive, international recognition was intensified by the project Buena Vista Social Club ( taking the name of a renowned Havana social club for over 60 years ) led by Juan de Marcos González and Ry Cooder ( on which Wim Wenders made an acclaimed documentary titled ) sharing the stage with other legends Compay Segundo, Ibrahim Ferrer, Pio Leyva, Ruben Gonzalez, Barbarito Torres, Eliades Ochoa and others.
